#ExploringWanted – Indianapolis

In the spirit of #ExploringWanted, we are sharing some of the fun outdoor spaces around Indianapolis. From parks to museums, we have highlighted some great spots to enjoy the last few days of summer!

Garfield Park Conservatory and Garden
This beautiful conservatory is 10,000 square feet of hundreds of tropical plants from all around the world. To visit, you need to purchase an advance ticket online for a specific time and date. And don’t forget your mask! After you’re done exploring the jungle-like conservatory, step outside and take a walk around the Sunken Garden. Designed to replicate a European classical garden with fountains and flowerbeds, this garden will make you feel like you’re in a different part of the world!

Canal Walk
The canal, located just west of downtown Indianapolis, is a prime location to spend a sunny afternoon. You can take a relaxing stroll along the promenade or even rent a paddle boat or kayak! Spend your day enjoying the views of the city, stop in one of the museums located on the canal or grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants nearby.

Newfield’s Campus
This cultural campus is located just 15 minutes north of downtown Indianapolis. Newfield’s is home to the Indianapolis Art Museum, beautiful gardens, a historic home, and a nature park. When you need a break from exploring this 152-acre campus, you can visit their café for a meal or snack. To visit, purchase a ticket online in advance.

Monon Trail
Whether its walking, running, or biking the Monon Trail is the perfect place to get some exercise and enjoy the outdoors. This paved pedestrian pathway is 26 miles long and stretches from the town of Sheridan, IN to just north of downtown Indianapolis. Along the way, you can stop for food or shopping as you pass through the different vibrant neighborhoods.

Highland Park
Highland Park is located on the eastside of downtown Indy and is one of the highest points in the city. Looking for a great view of the Indy skyline? Grab a blanket, pack a picnic and bring lawn chairs so you can watch the beautiful sunset.
