How Our Staff Support Student Success

Student success is at the forefront of all that we do at LIFT Academy, and it starts with our expert staff. That includes professionals like our Certificated Flight Instructors who play an important role in delivering our curriculum and building key relationships with students. To better explain how our staff support student success at LIFT, we sat down with Jake Wilson, Chief Flight Instructor at LIFT Academy’s Indianapolis campus.

Learn From the Best

LIFT Academy is a place for you to hone your skills and further your career. The same is true for our Certificated Flight Instructors, or CFIs. They are aviation experts who have also undergone extensive training to become experts in education.

“We’re not only training pilots, we’re training leaders,” said Jake. “These are people who are a mentor and a rock for students.”

“We instill core values of leadership and professionalism in our CFIs,” Jake continued. “We talk about how to show up for our students every day.”

The relationship between CFIs and students is one of the most important at LIFT. Since they’ve gone through flight training themselves, they can provide valuable insight to help further your success.

Supportive Mentorship

During your time at LIFT, you’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn from multiple CFIs. With our low student-to-instructor ratio, you’ll be able to spend one-on-one time with each of them.

“Our approach is to take extra care with each of our students to put them on the right track,” said Jake. “It’s important to be there as a resource for students.”

Having open channels of communication with experts in leadership positions is essential to your success at LIFT. That’s why students are encouraged to reach out whenever they need support.

“My success as an instructor is predicated on the success of my students,” said Jake. “That’s why I try to make myself as accessible as possible.”

Designed for Success

As Chief Flight Instructor, Jake plays an important role in developing the curriculum at LIFT, but he doesn’t do it alone. He works side by side with experts at Republic Airways in order to model our training program after the way Republic actually functions day to day.

“It gives our students a feel for standard flight operations,” said Jake. “That way, students are ready to go on day one when they start working.”

It’s an intense, fast-paced program, but it’s one that sets you up for long-term success. The aviation industry is typically quite tough to break into, but thanks to our relationship with Republic, our students have a direct pathway to the industry.
