LIFT Approved for GI Bill

We are excited to share that we have been approved to accept GI Bill funding. Supporting our active military and veterans is important to LIFT, and this recent approval allows us to expand opportunities to do just that.

To use VA GI Bill funding for flight training, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Qualify for the Post 9/11 GI Bill or Montgomery GI Bill, and
  • Hold a private pilot certificate (which can be earned at LIFT), and
  • Have an FAA first-class medical certificate (required for all LIFT students)

What this means is that access to the funding will only be granted once you complete your PPL at LIFT or at another location. The eligibility LIFT qualifies for currently is as a vocational school at a standalone Part 141 program. You must be enrolled in your instrument rating and commercial certificate simultaneously to receive access to your GI Bill.

If you are eligible to receive GI Bill benefits, the following must be completed after you have been accepted and enrolled into a class date with us:

  • Apply for benefits at least 30 days prior to start date;
  • Provide a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to School Certifying Official (SCO) after you receive approval;.
  • Update change of address and direct deposit information (Chapter 30-Use WAVE);
  • Register for e-Benefits (Chapter 30 and 33); and
  • Complete Student Verification of Enrollment monthly (Chapter 30 students use WAVE)

Once approval is completed, you will receive up to $14,881.59 for the 2021-22 academic year (effective August 1).  As we enroll more veterans the coming months, we hope you are able to join us this summer!

If you have any questions regarding your pathway to becoming a pilot at LIFT, or are unsure of your application status, please connect with our admissions department at explore@flywithlift.com or 317-471-2200!
