Meet Vincennes/LIFT Student – Hasaan Regans

Hasaan always knew he wanted to have an exciting career, something that would keep him on his toes. Going on family vacations where he often flew somewhere, Hasaan realized he enjoyed flying to and from the destination almost as much as the vacation itself! Hasaan felt the opportunity to flight train and earn a degree simultaneously was too good to pass up, so he took the leap and joined the LIFT Academy and Vincennes University partnership that are allowing him to do both! Read below to learn more about Hasaan and his journey to aviation.

Q: What were you doing before you started the LIFT/VU program?

A: Before LIFT/VU I was a pretty ordinary dude. I’ve never been into “normal” sports, but I emjoy watching boxing and MMA. High school was very enjoyable for me, and I miss a lot of my friends from it.

Q: What made you want to become a professional pilot?

A: Well, when I was younger, I was always drawn toward the medical field. As time went on, my more adventurous side got the best of me. I realized that I didn’t want to spend half of my life in school, but rather doing something I love and have fun doing it. Being a pilot was always something that was in the back of my mind because simply flying from place to place on vacation was something I enjoyed a lot. I’ve always liked doing daring things so I began doing more research on aviation.

Q: What made you want to be a part of the LIFT/VU program?

A: The aspect of the LIFT/VU program that made me want to join was the idea of being able to get a degree while doing an abundance of flying. I already liked LIFT from previous times meeting with them, so the degree through VU was just the icing on the cake. I’m eager to be able to graduate with a degree and have finished all the flight training before I go to the airlines.

Q: What has your experience at VU been so far?

A: My experience at VU has been a plethora of ground school and learning tons of stuff about planes themselves.

Q: What has your experience at LIFT been so far?

A: As for LIFT, I’ve done a great amount of flying, and I’m currently learning different maneuvers such as turns around a point and S-turns. I am loving all of my time in the cockpit and look forward to flying each day that I am scheduled. Every day is fun and different, and I don’t think I could ask for more!

Q: What does flying feel like for you? Why do you love it?

A: The best way I can explain flying is like when you’re at the top of your favorite roller coaster and have that feeling of glee: that feeling of pure excitement. But with flying, it just never ends. You always feel that feeling of pure happiness when you’re flying because what you’re doing is truly surreal.

Q: Who has inspired you along your path thus far and why?

A: The person who’s inspired me the most is honestly myself. I feel like along this journey I’ve become a more focused and determined person, and I refuse to give up on what I want. I keep myself motivated to continue putting in the work, to keep studying and make sure I am ready for each flight!

Q: What are you looking forward to in your career as a professional pilot?

A: The thing that excites me most about my career as a professional pilot is exploring the world I’ve yet to see. The world is still very uncharted to me, and being a pilot feels like a steppingstone to exploring all that I have yet to explore. I am so excited to see the world and to be able to fly myself there!

Q: What would you tell young people thinking about becoming a pilot?

A: For young people looking into being a pilot, I say go on a discovery flight. Doing that will knock out any doubts you may have had before then. Being a pilot is one of the most exhilarating careers you can have, and right now is the best time to pursue it.
